It takes a large number of volunteers to pull off the Great Deer Chase. And for those who have helped in the past we offer a HUGE Thank You! Especially to those who took care of our road crossings for the entire day!! If you or your organization would like to become involved or would like a presentation about the bike trails at Swedetown please contact: Our needs for the 17 & 27 Mile event: Road crossing guards -20 persons minimum at the start of the race, (16 intersections) 13 persons minimum during the race return (9 intersections). Time frames (start of race from 9:55 am to 10:15 am; race return from 10:50 – 1:30 pm) Five Course Marshals (out at various check points of the course to direct racers and help relay any aid needs.) Time varies on positioning but usually is no more than 2-1/2 hours. End of Race Aid Station – 2 people Sweeps - 4 minimum (2 first aid qualified, preferably all 4) Chip Timing Assistants – 5 people Registration: Friday evening 6:30 - 8:00 - 5 people; Saturday morning (8-9 am) – 4 people Start/Finish Areas Set up and Tear Down – 3 persons Course set-up/marking – 3 persons, 1 truck, 2 Bikes & BOB trailers Course Tear Down – 5 persons, 1 truck, 2 bikes w/ Trailers For the Youth Races: Road crossing guards -16 persons minimum. Time frame from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Four Course Marshals (out at various check points of the course to direct racers and help relay any aid needs.) Time varies on positioning but is usually less than 1 hour. End of Race Aid Station – 2 people Chip Timing Assistants – 4 people Registration: Saturday 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm - 4 people Sweeps - 4 (need 2 with first aid training, preferably all 4) Course marking (revise some marking of adult course) – 2 persons on Bikes plus method to carry hammer, stapler, barrier tape. |
